Student Loan Disbursement Scheduling

Many students turn to a student loan to help them pay for college. Being aware of the student loan disbursement schedule and how a private student loan will pay the school helps students know if they will have any money coming back to them to apply to the next term or to use for books and other supplies.

The loans are generally disbursed each quarter or semester, directly to the school, based on the school schedule. The school will then forward and any excess amount to the student. In turn, the student may decide to use the excess to cover any books or supplies he or she may need for the period, or the student can forward the money back to the school to be applied toward any balance for the following period. Students who are concerned about student loan disbursement should contact their financial aid officer for more information. Most often, students will receive notification when funds are applied to their account.
