CLRP Eligibility Requirements for Army Personnel

College students who plan to enlist in the Army may be qualified for a College Loan Repayment Program or CLRP offered by the military service. If your application meets the eligibility requirements, your federal student loans will be paid off up to a maximum amount of $65,000.

Eligibility Requirements

To be qualified for the Army CLRP, an applicant must meet or comply the following criteria:

  • He or she must be a high school diploma holder upon enlisting in the service.

  • He or she must not be enrolled or must decline in writing an enrollment in the Montgomery GI Bill.

  • He or she must not have a prior military service experience.

  • He or she must have a federally insured or guaranteed student loan/s under the Higher Education Act of 1965, Title IV, Part B, D, or E before becoming active in duty.

  • He or she should have a score of 50 or higher in his or her Armed Forces Qualification Test called the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB).

  • He or she must enroll in a critical military occupational specialty (MOS).

  • He or she must specifically mention LRP in the enlistment contract guaranteed by his or her signature.
