CLRP Eligibility Requirements for Army National Guard Personnel

College Loan Repayment Program (CLRP) provides repayment of outstanding student loans for individual who choose to serve in the Army National Guard. This includes both college graduates and students who have incurred loan debt prior to joining the Army National Guard.

Enlistment Period

The enlistment period for students and graduates serving in the Army National Guard is 6 years in order to receive repayment of an outstanding student loan under the Military College Loan Repayment Program. In addition to the enlistment period, an enlistee must enroll in a specific Military Occupational Specialty or Air Force Specialty Code (MOS/AFSC) that is in shortage.

Loan Payment

The loan amount payable for a member of the Army National Guard is the greater of 15 percent or $1,500 up to $20,000 in total for each year of service. He amount payable under the Army National Guard is similar to the amount paid to Army Reserve enlistees.
