CLRP Eligibility Requirements for Air Force Personnel

College Loan Repayment Program (CLRP) eligibility requirements for individuals serving in the Air Force are established to provide a service member with relief of some of their outstanding debt while meeting the needs of the service branch. The Air Force provides payment on the unpaid principal for a qualifying student loan, including PLUS, Stafford and Perkins loans.

Enlistment Period

A person enlisting in the Air Force must serve a minimum period of 4 years in order to qualify for loan repayment under the CLRP. This period is the same as it is for students and college graduates that enlist in the U.S. Navy.

Loan Payment

An amount equal to the greater of 33-1/3 percent of the loan amount or $1,500 is payable during each of the 4 years of service. The Air Force sets an overall limit of $10,000 in loan repayment for non-prior service enlistees who are on active duty.
